Popular camping areas include: Donner Memorial State Park, Granite Flat, Logger Camp, Campground By The Lake, Camp Richardson Resort & Marina, Emerald Bay, Tahoe Valley Campground, and Zephyr Cove Resort.
Hiking: The Tahoe region offers dozens of hiking opportunities. Enjoy the beauty of the mountains surrounding the lake. Trails range from novice to expert. Popular trails include Eagles Falls, Eagle Lake, Emerald Bay, Glacier Meadow Loop, Rubicon Trail, Shirley Lake, Summit Lake, and Tunnel Creek Station.
Fishing: With a depth of 1645 feet and a surface area of 193 square miles, Tahoe offers some of the best fishing opportunities in the country. Other area lakes include Donner Lake, Boca Reservoir, Processer Reservoir, and Stampede. Truckee River fishing is open from April 28th to November 15th. The local stream fishing season is from July 1st to November 15th.
