The Springhill Suites by Marriott Napa Valley is apparently all suites, though some are larger than others. This sounds VERY luxurious, but
according to customer reviews, the Springhill Suites is actually just another place to sleep—but a very good place to sleep. Many people raved about the clean, comfortable facilities and friendly, helpful customer service. The breakfast buffet got mixed reviews, but it is complimentary, so no one seriously complained.
Definite pluses include the outdoor fire pit and the outdoor heated pool and hot tub. There’s a nice exercise facility, a business center, a custom built bar, and a 24-hour market, though what is sold at the market is not clear from the website. The suites include both comfortable beds and convenient pull-out sofa beds, a pantry, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, plus a generous desk and both wired and wireless Internet, and iPod docking stations. There’s valet laundry service, always a perk for those who like cleanliness but not cleaning. The hotel is smoke free.
Springhill Suites is well-prepared to host business events; their business meeting services list actually includes a carpenter, along with such goodies as portable stages, AV equipment, and walkie-talkies. They will cater everything from breakfast to snacks to dinner for your event.
They’ll be happy to host your wedding or social event as well. They can work with tiny, intimate events for five people, all the way up to big bashes for 250. They even have tents for outdoor events.
Overall, the impression given is solid, but low-key, affordable, but not “cheap” in a bad way. Their website helpfully provides several suggestions on how to get discounted rates (offered by AAA, for example), as well as information on where to go to eat and what to do while you’re in the area.
Speaking of doing things in the area, this IS Napa. That’s why you’d come here; the hotel is nice, it’s a means to an end. The end, the thing you’re probably going for, has something to do with the many fine, Michelin-rated restaurants and the hundreds of world-class wineries. You can find art and history museums, art galleries, restaurants and coffee houses with live jazz, theaters, movie houses, even an opera house and a symphony. There is also an excellent network of hiking and equestrian trails, and miles of county roads you’ll find quiet, scenic, and perfect for a long jog or an afternoon of cycling. Do you like to paddle? Most valleys have rivers at the bottom, and the Napa Valley is no exception. The Napa River runs quiet and slow in its lower reaches, and wild and white nearer its headwaters, so you get your choice of boating adventures. Don’t forget the many day spas in the area. If you find yourself sore after a day on the river, you can always book a relaxing massage.
Listen, in this region, if you want luxury, you can find it. If you want an outdoor adventure, they’ve got that here for you, too. If you want to drink some of the world’s best wines and eat some excellent food, if you want to hire skilled professionals to rub your back and smooth your feet while you eat chocolate and sip wine, you can do all of that. Staying at this hotel is an affordable way to get all of those goodies this region has to offer. We’ve said that before, often when there’s something about the hotel that explains why it’s so cheap. This is different; there’s nothing wrong with the place, and it’s hard to argue with clean, comfortable suites. You’ll like it. It’s just that you’re going to like the rest of the valley more.
